AERONET-OC LWN Uncertainties: Revisited

چکیده

Abstract The Ocean Color Component of the Aerosol Robotic Network (AERONET-OC) aims at supporting assessment satellite ocean color radiometric products with in situ reference data derived from automated above-water measurements. This study, applying metrology principles and taking advantage recent technology science advances, revisits uncertainty estimates formerly provided for AERONET-OC normalized water-leaving radiances L WN . new values are quantified a number sites located marine regions representative chlorophyll-a-dominated waters (i.e., Case 1) variety optically complex waters. Results show uncertainties typically increasing optical complexity water wind speed. Relative absolute various together contributions each source affecting In view users, study also suggests practical solutions to quantify its spectral values. Additionally, results an evaluation temporal variability characterizing presented address impact mismatches between matchup analysis.

In situ autonomous optical radiometry measurements for satellite ocean color validation in the Western Black Sea

The accuracy of primary satellite ocean color data products from the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer on-board Aqua (MODIS-A) and the Visible/Infrared Imager/Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) is investigated in the Western Black Sea using in situ measurements from the Gloria site included in the ocean color component of the Aerosol Robotic Network (AERONET-OC). The analysis is also extended...

Values and uncertainties in climate prediction, revisited.

Philosophers continue to debate both the actual and the ideal roles of values in science. Recently, Eric Winsberg has offered a novel, model-based challenge to those who argue that the internal workings of science can and should be kept free from the influence of social values. He contends that model-based assignments of probability to hypotheses about future climate change are unavoidably infl...

QUICKSELECT Revisited

We give an overview of the running time analysis of the random divide-and-conquer algorithm FIND or QUICKSELECT. The results concern moments, distribution of FIND’s running time, the limiting distribution, a stochastic bound and the key: a stochastic fixed point equation.

Uncertainties Revisited: Actor-Network Theory as a Lens for Exploring the Relationship between Uncertainties and the Quality of Participation

In this article the authors use Actor-Network Theory (ANT) to explore the relationship between uncertainties in co-design processes and the quality of participation. They investigate Latour’s (2005) discussion of uncertainties in social processes concerning the nature of actors, actions, objects, facts/matters of concern and the study of the social. To discuss uncertainties in co-design, and mo...

Global atmospheric black carbon inferred from AERONET.

AERONET, a network of well calibrated sunphotometers, provides data on aerosol optical depth and absorption optical depth at >250 sites around the world. The spectral range of AERONET allows discrimination between constituents that absorb most strongly in the UV region, such as soil dust and organic carbon, and the more ubiquitously absorbing black carbon (BC). AERONET locations, primarily cont...
